Full House at T.Loop’s Opening of the World's First Data Energy Center®

Over a hundred people braved snow chaos, the flu season, and challenges in public transportation to attend the inauguration of the world's first Data Energy Center® located in The Factory, Häggvik in northern Stockholm, at December 7.

There was tremendous interest in visiting T.Loop’s Data Energy Center®, which is the first data center in Sweden to use Immersion Cooling or Direct Liquid Cooling technology, to cool the servers.

The data center, with a 0.2 MW data capacity, will generate half of the building's heating needs, something that property owner CapMan, represented by Ludwig Engdahl, highlighted as a significant opportunity for the property sector.

After a solemn inauguration with ribbon cutting and speeches from the founding trio Staffan Stymne, Jonas Nyman, and Mathias Lindqvist, visitors were given the opportunity for a guided tour of the data center and its technology.

Also present was Svetlana Iakovleva from Submer, the supplier of the immersion cooling system.

T.Loop’s vision is to create a new standard for data centers with our climate-positive Data Energy Center®, as an essential part of the green energy transition. Mathias Sundin, one of the evening's esteemed speakers, is involved in another innovative energy project - Energisamhället - together with Jonas Birgersson. The goal of Energisamhället is to create a society that offer all the electricity you need at a low fixed price. Such a society would be different from what we live in today, where we need to limit the use of electricity and currently worry about the next electricity bill. Mathias shared the vision of what Energisamhället aims to achieve, creating a society where an abundance of electricity would lead to numerous innovations and improve life. He drew parallels to the human creativity unleashed when we gained unlimited access to the internet.

The inauguration of T.Loop’s Data Energy Center® coincides with alarming reports from the global climate meeting, COP28. The energy transition is a prerequisite for us to meet the emission goals required to avoid a temperature increase of more than 1.5 degrees. One person who has dedicated his life to creating a connection to the nature now being destroyed is the world-renowned nature photographer Mattias Klum. Mattias Klum offered a journey into the world's circular ecosystems. His amazing pictures do justice to the magical world we live in, while also showing images of how quickly we can destroy the delicate ecosystems around which our globe is built. A moving journey that emphasizes how important it is for all of us to do everything we can to make the necessary changes together.

The evening concluded with Jonathan Evans, TDCS, and one of the data center industry's foremost sustainability experts, having an inspiring dialogue with T.Loop’s own expert Mathias Lindqvist about sustainability trends and changing purchasing behaviors in the industry.

The world's first Data Energy Center® is now formally inaugurated, in our opinion, in a fitting and delightful manner. Together with partners, customers, investors, family, and friends. We now look forward to continuing to expand our impact in the data center industry with an ambitious goal for 2024.
